In my White Tee

I'm a tee shirt kinda girl.
A tee, tank, whatever, every style but only one color.. White!

I'm sure you all know how essential a white tee shirt is but I still have to take a minute to point it out again.. I absolutely LOVE a white tee shirt. I don't know where my effortless look would be without one. The versatility of the white tee shirt can not be downplayed! It surpasses age, size, and skin shade. a crisp white shirt looks great on everyone!.. You decide which direction you want your look to go; Do whatever you want with your shoes and accessories, this is the perfect time to get some use out of that random over the top necklace or shoes that match absolutely nothing in your closet..
A white top is your blank pallet.. Be an artist..

A Moment in Fashion History: Naomi Sims

1969
Nowadays there are so many young girls (and even those late 20something that are considered old as hell in the modeling world) that have a dream of becoming a super model. Young Women line up for there chance to become Tyra's Americas Next Top Model and even though it still seems like a dream job that's more attainable than in the past its hard as hell to get your big break in modeling.

Every arena has its trailblazers and in honor of black history month I want to take a moment to salute Naomi Sims. Born in Oxford Mississippi ( Just a few hours away from the small town my family is from) =}  Naomi later moved out East and attending the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City while taking courses in Psychology at night. She received her first big break by stepping out and making her own connections with famous photographer Gosta Peterson. From there she got her own work using the up-and-coming Wilhelmina Modeling company as a contact.

Naomi is truly an inspiring women, not just because I love her name  ;-) but mainly because she encompassed everything I think a women should be; beautiful and intelligent, She took control of her life from a young age and even though she was awkward and teased for being 5'10 by the age of 13 she made her life a true success.. How many people do you know that are still holding on to things from their childhood?? Are you still holding on to insecurities? Her life could have gone in any direction and he chose for it to be a positive one.

Ms. Sims was later referred to as the one of the most savy business women in the fashion industry. She was also an author and published lots of writing on healthy beauty and black women in business.
The Cover that Sims says started her career

Sims passed on at the young age of 61 but I must say that I have really enjoyed reading about her today. She is truly inspiring and I am happy to share her name. With GODs grace this Naomi will be just as successfully in my endeavors and can take time in my years to inspire those that that I touch.. The moral of the story is dream big and go for it!! Whatever "it" may be.

Peace ~ Love

Bangin!

I don't have bangs, never been able to do it. It just doesn't work for my everyday life, my big hair has a life of its own and i have to keep it in its comfort zone to avoid lookin like whoa... So in this post I just wana send a shout out (ha!.. people shouldn't use that term anymore but its just so handy right now..lol) to all the gals out there rocking bangs. I wish I had some, I'm jealous!.. They are so cute and sassy and versatile.. There totally girl next door or Sexy Vixen.
If you're feeling kinda blah about your current 'do and you don't want to make any drastic changes to your look, get a fresh trim and a bang as a change for spring.. Spruce up those curls or keep it flat and give yourself a frame up.. It will highlight that beautiful face of yours..

Valentines Day Countdown Part III

Who envies the girl who's got her own??.. Neo wrote a song about her, Miss Independent got the house, the car, the banging wardrobe. Career Woman on the move! Always at the hottest events, being glam is so much fun..But all work and no play, blah blah blah.. ;o) So maybe lets try the reverse for you. If you're married or single, mommy of many or none a girl gota take time to relax and I'm down for any excuse to relax. Let V~Day be that excuse..

Take some time to enjoy your home. Especially if you are living in that dream house you always wanted, make good use of that house/apartment that you pay all that hard earned money for. More often than not we get so consumed in maintaining the life we have and working toward the life we want that we don't get to enjoy what we have. So, take a minute to stop running around town and move those rubber duckies and bottles of shampoo out of site and make your bathroom a haven in honor of Valentines Day.

Pick up some of these goodies and curl up with a book or your hubby and enjoy a relaxing evening at home..
Carol's Daughter. Bath Salts & Oils make bath time relaxing.

Valentines Day Countdown Part Deux!

Ladies Night!..

I know a lot of my ladies will be spending V~Day together and I'm all about it!.. Take in a show with the girls, dinner, a movie or a relaxing stress-free spa visit to get in some much need girl talk.. Still no reason to dress it all the way down today. Take this as the moment to feel and look your very best..  :)  (as you should everyday)

Now looking your very best definitely doesn't mean you have to be wearing a formal gown or anything of the like. Jeans and  nice top can give you the everyday glam you're looking for the spend the day with your gal pals.
Here are some picks that will pop with your pink or red lip..

Keep it simple with a bright lip, especially if you aren't too keen on color.. A simple sweater dress or adding a little spice with a new top to go with some of your classic bottoms is all you need to feel like a new you on a low key V~Day with the girls..

To all my girls that are lucky enough to have your gal pal V~Day in warm weather.. These are for you! Don't forget your Pink&Red Pink&Red ...  =)

Just a couple of "cute" pieces to wear during daytime activities. Of course you will need to choose shades that compliment your chosen lip shade. But these will give you a kick-off point..

Now we got Girls Night out!. What happens on Girls Night, Stays between friends. *wink.  If you are taking your V~Day Gal Pal celebration to the nightlife you're my kinda girl. I'm all about getting out for a bit of mingling in the evening.. For the most part its just fun to get dressed and spend time being silly with friends. With your pink or red lip I suggest you make the night sizzle! Why the hell not!??

Hey hotness!!.. Make the best of everyday and enjoy your V~Day. Always!!
